But “Gapers Gone Wild: HD Extremery”…
…doesn’t know what cool is.
…has solid production value.
…tells a story.
…features Random Bob and Mr. Mooyagi.
…is its own movie.
…is made by professionals with kick-ass resumes.
…has a barcode and marketing campaign.
…punches serious in the throat.
…is made entirely of duct-tape.

Foreign parts are out. I’ll head for the roads round here again, saddled with my vice – the vice that took painful root in my side when I grew up . . . it rakes the sky, batters me, flattens me, drags me on.

The dregs of innocence, the last scrap of reticence. It’s on record. I refuse to carry my loathings and betrayals into the world.

All right then. The slog, the backpack, the desert, tedium and anger.

Who shall I sign up with? Which brute shall I worship? What holy image shall I desecrate? Whose hearts shall I break? What lie shall I espouse? Whose blood shall I trample?

Better to steer clear of the law. – The hard life; pure, mindless drudgery – raise the coffin lid with a shrivelled hand, settle in and expire. That way no growing old, no risks run: terror is unknown to the French.

- Ah but I’m so desolate, I’ll dedicate my drive for perfection to the first divine image that happens along.

What self-denial! What consummate charity! Still stuck here, even so!

A 40 hour work week dedicates 26 hours to Gapers Gone Wild HD, 2 hours to Mass Embroidery and Rise Above each, 1 hour to Broken Helmets and Gleaming the Bouillon Cube each, and 3 hours every week to all the Tertiary projects (the Tertiary projects are auto-pilots requiring an initial set-up and minimal maintenance through the exploitation of p.o.d. distribution channels).

Now, it’s silly to spend 1 hour a week with Broken Helmets and the same applies to Gleaming the Bouillon Cube, but the solution is simple–stack hours into a session and walk-away for a period. The division of time is a guideline and not a hard-n-fast rule. My tendency will to be completely crack out. I know this. But, this document is an anchor to my ideal mix of projects and the percentages appropriate to each that will assure a successful deployment of all five phases of The Five Year Napoleon Komplex.

Today, I have a ticket. Tomorrow, I redeem it for a flight to LAX. Ten days in LA. I’ve never been to a film festival. This one is called Action On Film Festival. Catchy title. It’s the kind of title that makes you think, “They’ll like High School Shooter.” That was a few months ago, when I submitted the script.

Yesterday, I got a letter. The script is a top five finalist in two categories: Best Script and Best Dialogue. Yesterday, I bought a round trip from New York to Los Angeles. Ten days in LA? I have zero nerves about the festival. I am anxious about LA. All those goddamn people… Breathe. I tell myself to carry a camera. It will protect me from all the people and turn them into subjects. I like to study the world. It makes me feel safer to see all the dirt. Today, I will pack my camera.

I put the camera in my carry-on. Everything is in my carry-on. I have been living out of a photographer’s bag for two year’s now. It carries everything. I would make a list, but I don’t like to talk about feelings as it hurts my image; therefore, I will not make a list. This backpack carries all of my shit. I don’t need anything else. I am mobile. I am ready to drop-in. I have spent some time in different zones. I have collected little piles of shit in each of those zones. Some of them are in storage units that I make a monthly payment on, but everything I need is in this backpack. I do not need anything else. This is it.

Today, I am distilled. Tomorrow, I will begin to build. I have no expectations. I deny them. I choose goals. I’ve never been to a film festival. Let’s see what happens.
